DAIRY FREE, SOY FREE, NUT FREE, SEED FREE
These dairy free waffles are the bomb! Having allergic kiddos doesn’t mean they live without – at least not when we’re home. I always tell them, I can make anything, or at least I can try!
At restaurants, waffles and pancakes are usually on the no-no list since there is usually dairy milk in the batter and likely nuts in the different varieties of dishes offered. Flaxseeds are also gaining in popularity these days, in case you are allergic to seeds. Yes, we’re allergic – dairy, nuts, and seeds. I just imagine that the griddles and waffle irons are contaminated with everything on the menu.
Also, we’re a “classic” waffle family, not a Belgian waffle family. Belgian waffles are just too thick and bready for us. We like the CRUNCH and the thinness. Of course, with that said, this recipe will work for either classic or Belgian waffles.

- 3/4 Cup all purpose flour
- 1 Cup whole wheat flour
- 1 Tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 eggs
- 1 Cup rice milk (or milk of choice)
- 1/2 Cup orange juice
- 1/4 Cup maple syrup
- 1/2 Cup coconut oil melted (or oil of choice)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- oil for greasing waffle iron
- Preheat waffle iron.
- Mix the dry ingredients.
- Mix the wet ingredients.
- Stir the wet into the dry ingredients.
- Use a silicone basting brush to grease the waffle iron. Dip in oil and brush on iron.
- Follow instructions for waffle iron for cooking waffles.
- Makes about 10 waffles.
- We use 1/3 Cup batter for each waffle in our waffle iron.
We put about 1/3 cup of batter for each waffle. Refer to your owner’s manual to see how much to use in your waffle iron. We like our Classic Waffle Maker by Cuisinart.
My family loves how unbelievably crunchy we can get these waffles, without burning them. 🙂 You can top them with anything you like. May we suggest blueberries? Sliced banana. Pure maple syrup. So Delicious Dairy Free CocoWhip Topping? Chocolate chips? Ohh.. The possibilities are endless!
