NUT SAFE FLOUR
We recommend certain varieties of King Arthur Flour for a nut-safe flour. King Arthur’s six Signature Flours (All Purpose, Bread, Whole Wheat, White Whole Wheat, Self-Rising, and Sprouted Wheat, plus their Organic versions) don’t have peanuts or tree nuts added to them as ingredients, and are milled in dedicated wheat-only facilities. For this recipe, the King Arthur’s All Purpose Flour will work perfectly.
But do be aware: King Arthur Flour’s specialty flours (e.g., French-style, Italian-style, First clear, etc.), plus many of their mixes and ingredients, are prepared in their Vermont facility where they share equipment with tree nuts.
TOAST or SANDWICH BREAD
After slicing the bread, I recommend to freeze it. Then when you’re ready to eat, remove frozen slices as needed and toast for best taste.
My daughter likes to top her toast with nut-free WowButter. WowButter is made from soybeans, and is a nut safe, healthy and nutritious substitute for peanut butter. If you’re not allergic to dairy, buttered toast is a breakfast favorite for my son.
If you’re packing school lunches, you can make sandwiches with frozen bread slices. It’ll be defrosted and as fresh as ever when it’s time to eat. YUM!

What do you like to eat on your toast?
What size loaf is this recipe for and dors it include your gluten free all purpose flour?
It’s for a 1.5 lb loaf. I’ve never tried making bread with gluten free flour, but if you do, let us know how it goes. I’ve heard that gluten free flour for bread can be very finicky.
I’m sorry. Just saw loaf size. How about crust setting?
Hi Ann, I don’t have a crust setting on my bread machine. It’s rather old fashioned as it’s about 20 years old! 🙂 If you give it a try, let us know what you figure out! Thanks.
Hi! I’m interested in making this bread for our daughter who was just diagnosed with a soy, egg, and nut allergy. Have you ever made this without the bread machine and/or tips on how to do it without one?
Hi Kristin! I have never made it without a bread machine. I would suggest looking up another bread recipe and substituting with these ingredients. Let us know how it turns out!
Is this the sugar supposed to be in Tablespoons? Most recipes I’m reading call for teaspoons.. Thanks!
Hi Mariah! Yes, 3 Tablespoons sugar is correct.
I made this bread and it was very good. I will be making it again soon, thankyou for the recipe.
So great to hear!
Have you ever tried this with a Gluten Free flour? Just wondering if I should use the GF setting on my bread maker or the regular bread setting if I use a GF flour
Sorry, I have never tried a GF flour with the bread maker.
By FAR the best bread I’ve ever made in the machine. I’ve made it twice now. It tastes great and is picture perfect. Officially my go to recipe now. Thanks!
Excellent and so soft!!!
Dairy free delight.
Thanks for the recipe.
